The Sacred Valley, with a minimum of artificial light, is one of the finest spots in Peru (and indeed, South America) to observe the Southern Hemisphere’s immense night sky. Casa Andina’s domed Planetarium and Observatory is the perfect place to appreciate it –the way the Incas themselves focused on the heavens.
Guests have the unique opportunity to observe constellations only visible in the Southern Hemisphere, including the Southern Cross, Centaurus, and the Southern Milky Way. Astronomy-trained guides lead nightly programs (in English, French and Spanish) in Inca cosmology and instruct guests in using the professional electronic telescope for stargazing.
The planetarium has 3 daily guided shows: English at 6:30 p.m., Spanish at 8:00 p.m. and English or Spanish (depending on the audience) at 9:15 p.m.
