Where to go out

The old quarter of Arequipa is especially lively at night, full of bars and restaurants popular with both visitors and locals.

Bars and Pubs
In addition to standard bars, many spots in Arequipa present live music on weekends and during the week. Among the most popular standard bars are: Istambul, San Francisco 231; Zero, San Francisco 317; and La Terrasse (also a karaoke bar) located upstairs in the same building as Zero; Farrens Irish Pub, Pasaje Catedral 107, a popular hangout behind the cathedral; and Le Bistro, Zela 207, a beer tavern. Bars with live music include: Montreál Le Café Art, Ugarte 210; FROGs, Zela 216; and Zorbas, San Franciso 229.

Night Clubs
Forum Rock Café, San Francisco 317, a bar, disco, and concert hall with a rainforest theme; Déjà Vu, San Francisco 319, with a lively bar and dance floor, and English-language movies, as well as a great rooftop terrace. Other recommended discos include: Kibosh, Zela 205; and Daddios, on the Plaza de Armas.

Peña
Las Quenas, Santa Catalina 302, a cozy spot featuring live Andean music Monday through Saturday.
