Peru’s capital Lima is a cosmopolitan city that embraces its colonial heritage, modern dynamism, and privileged location on the Pacific coast. The city is, after all, the only South American capital facing the sea. Limeños are rightly proud of their unrivaled gastronomy and miles of beaches up and down the coast. Lima has become recognized as one of the world’s top gastronomic destinations, as the city’s vibrant and creative coastal fusion cuisine has gained in fame worldwide.
Only a few years ago, Lima was not often viewed as a significant tourist destination on its own, but that image has changed, in no small due to the gastronomic boom that has accompanied solid economic progress and increased safety in the capital. Lima’s magnificent collection of art and archaeology museums, the finest in Peru, as well as the well preserved colonial center and lively contemporary communities like Miraflores, San Isidro and Barranco hugging the coast, make Lima a fascinating place that takes at least two days to discover and appreciate. Casa Andina organizes unique capital excursions that allow visitors to truly experience another side to the Peruvian capital city.

Ten years crisscrossing Peru, producing 240 TV programs on diverse topics. A journalist and writer, for nearly a decade he has directed and hosted the TV program Tiempo de Viaje, in which he travels throughout Peru (and occasionally other countries), documenting natural, historical and human scenes infrequently visited by conventional tourism. His perspective is not that of a tourist, but of a traveler, who immerses himself in what he finds and shies away from nothing in his reporting. He is also the author and/or publisher of an extensive series of books about Peruvian culture. |
